Ohio Foreclosure Law

April 17 - 18, 2008, Sandusky, Ohio;

The Academy of Continuing Legal Education presents a seminar April 17 - 18, 2008, Thursday and Friday. Classes applied for 14 hours of CLE credit will be presented, including "Fundamental Foreclosure Law", presented by Timothy M. Gauntner, Esq., Foreclosure Magistrate of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas; "Ohio and Local Government Responses to Foreclosures", Mark Wiseman Esq., director, Cuyahoga County Foreclosure Prevention Program; "Predatory Lending - State Regulation Civil and Criminal" presented by James P. Boyle, Esq., Consumer Protection Division of the Ohio Attorney General; "Defense of Foreclosure in the Common Pleas Court" presented by Christopher J. Mallin, Esq., Academic co-ordinator of the Academy of Continuing Legal Education; "Bankruptcy Court Practice in Foreclosure" presented by Patricia Kovacs, Esq., bankruptcy trustee in the Northern District of Ohio, Western Division; "Federal Tax Law Consequences in Negotiated Refinances", presented by David H. Cullis, Esq., adjunct instructor at Robert Morris University Graduate School of Taxation; and "Title Insurance Obligations in Foreclosure", presented by Amelia Bower, Esq., managing attorney of Plunkett & Cooney, P. C., Title Insurance Law Practice Group. There will be an Ethics presentation, "Disciplinary Considerations in Foreclosure Litigation", presented by Judge Arlene Singer of the Sixth District Court of Appeals, and a Professionalism presentation,"Disclosure to the Foreclosure Client". A course outline is available here. For seminar attendees interested in Accountancy CPE credits, the Academy will provide documentation for a total of fourteen CPE credits. Credits for Title Insurance Continuing Education and Real Estate Continuing Education are pending.

The seminar location is The Kalahari Resort, Sandusky, Ohio, on Route 250 between the Ohio Turnpike and Route 2.

Price for the fourteen hours of CLE is $420.00, being $30.00 per credit hour. There is a discounted price of $350.00, being $25.00 per credit hour, for attorneys representing governments and non-profit organizations, and for Academy of CLE members. For attendees applyng for credit in more than one professional area, there will be a $25.00 administrative charge for reporting to each additional agency. The Kalahari has indicated it will make a limited number of rooms available at a group rate, to be announced after January 1, 2008.
